KHAN as a Puppy

MY FIRST LEONBERGER PUPPY - (SEE MY NEW EDITION KIMBA (2ND LEO PUPPY) ON KIMBA'S SHOW RESULTS PAGE)

This is our new edition to our family, 'Khan' a Leonberger puppy, aged approx 13 weeks in top photo, so yes he is going to be a very big boy. They are originally bred in Leonberg in Germany and where bred to look like a lion. They used Newfoundlands, Saint Bernards and Pyranean Mountain dogs to create the Leonberger many years ago, so they are a breed in their own right now. I fell in love with the Leo about 2 years ago when I first met one, and considered very carefully whether to get one, it is not a decision to be made lightly. After doing a lot of research and a lot of saving!! I decided that I was certain and found that they would get on with my little dogs the Shih Tzu's. I researched the different breeders and looked into the health problems. I went to Dog Shows and met people and asked questions, until I was happy that I new enough to find a healthy, well bred Leo. I had to go on waiting lists and be patient, but then my puppy was available, and he turned out to be everything I wanted in a Leo and am so pleased. I am taking him to Ring Craft (dog training) to get him ready to take to Shows when he reaches six months old. He is putting on over a Pound in weight every day at the moment, I am feeding him on a Fresh Raw food diet and it seems to suit him very well.

I will update as he gets older...

Khan's Show news!!

Khan loves going to the Shows at the weekends and is doing really well, he got First last weekend!! He has grown rather a lot since the above photo!!!!! As you can now see in photo below!!!! He is such a love, he is so happy all the time it's hard to get angry at him even when he's naughty!! Luckily he is very quick to learn and wants to please everyone. He gets on great with my Shih Tzu's and is best friends with Tatty, one of my last litter who is only slightly older than him, I think she feels brave having him as her friend!!! I am not able to weigh him at the moment as I am unable to lift him anymore so will have to use the scales at the vets, I would guess he must be around 45 to 48 Kg!!

THE BEST OF FRIENDS.

I forget he was as small as this!!

Khan fully grown!
